Permanent Makeup Removal Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a difference between Tattoo Ink and Cosmetic ink?

Yes, tattoo manufacturers use different organic and inorganic inks, manufacturers use these elements that are non-toxic and more muted in color which is typically found in inorganic inks. Click on the link above to learn more about the difference.

How long does it take?

Typically laser tattoo removal of the eyebrows usually takes between 1-5 treatments for removal, less for simple lightening. Treatments are typically spaced 6-8 weeks apart similar to tattoo removal intervals.

Do all colors remove the same for eyebrow tattoo removal?

Simple answer, No.

  • Black and Grey remove best- on fair to medium untanned skin
  • Dark brown ink typically does well too
  • Flesh tones and White inks tend to darken and not remove

Why do flesh tones and white inks darken?

They tend to contain iron or other metals that darken (oxidizes) with a laser. Similar to a sliced apple turning brown when exposed to air. There is no FDA regulation with permanent makeup ingredients so removal results can vary.

Can you remove just part of my tattoo?

Yes, with our Precision Laser Fading is a process where we can target only the specific area to be lightened. Our technicians, equipment, and training allow us to zero in on the area needed while protecting and preserving the existing art around the area.

How are my eyes protected during treatment?

Mandatory protocol for any removal of face tattoos at our clinic is the use of protective stainless steel eye covers.

Will the laser remove my eyebrow hair?

Typically there is less than a 5% chance of hair loss or thinning. Laser treatments may lighten the eyebrow hair, but new growth will be your natural color.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Some pinpoint bleeding and swelling may occur directly after treatment. The swelling typically subsides within the 24-hour timeframe and the skin should be back to normal within two weeks or less.

What is the aftercare process?

There is no downtime with laser tattoo removal, however, with cosmetic tattoos, we recommend no makeup or lotions and creams on the treated area for 2-3 days. Rest and hydration are highly recommended as your body will be working on removing those ink particles.
