Breast Cancer Awareness: 1 in 8 Women Will Get Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Do you know someone who has survived breast cancer? Or maybe you’ve lost someone as a result of this disease. This is the time to share that story.

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. About 1 in 8 women will get breast cancer during their lifetime and approximately 1 in 36 women will die from it.

Free Radiation Tattoo Removal for Breast Cancer Survivors: Laser Services in Indianapolis

Right now there are about 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. Many of these survivors see small daily reminders of their battle. Radiation tattoos, usually blue or black, are small markers used to identify the area that needs to be radiated. These “tattoos” are small, but permanent. If chances of recurrence are very low and a persons doctor agrees, these markers can be removed by laser treatment.
Radiation tattoos are a positive thing for some women. They see them as symbols of their victory and strength. For other women these small marks are reminders of a painful past that is behind them and they don’t want the daily reminders. Both perspectives are understandable and to be respected.
Skin Renew is honored to offer free removal of radiation tattoos for breast cancer survivors. Removal typically takes one or two sessions. If you have questions about the procedure or would like to schedule a free treatment, please contact us through our website or by phone.
We have partnered with the Susan G. Komen of Central Indiana on this critical issue. We hope you will take the time to share stories or experiences on Facebook about the battle against breast cancer. If you’re able, please make a donation to help continue the fight.
